[Gangwon-do, Chuncheon] Nami Island and Dak-galbi

Chuncheon in Gangwon-do is one of the most popular place to travel from Seoul as its location is relatively closed from Seoul. It would take about a hour from the capital city by car and it is also very convenient to use public transportation such as bus or train. In Chuncheon, there is a small but beautiful island which is well known as the background site of a famous K-drama. It is the reason this place is loved by many couples other than family travelers.

My mom wanted to go to this place so we hitted the road in one fine spring day. I have last traveled to this city as I used to be an university instructor in one of universities at Chuncheon back then 2013. I was more interested in visiting this city again after the long time gap and enjoying the Dak-galbi which is famous in this specific city.

One hidden fact of this island is that the owner of this island is actually a descendant of collaborators to Japanese government at the Japanese colonial era who is currently living in US  like most of other descendants of Japanese collaborators at that dark time in Korea. Their ancestors collected a lot of corrupted money during the colonial time and then left the country after Korea became independent from Japan. This is one of the very critical history of Korea - during the 35 years of Japanese colonial time from 1910 to 1945. Maybe I will write about it with other posting in the next opportunity.

Though my mom and I had such a great time, I think I had better restrain to visit this place again in that reason. Anyway, I was more interested in the foods in Chunchun so we went to a Dak-galbi place in main city of Chuncheon - rain and star Dak-galbi - http://www.rainandstar.com/

This is a spicy stir-fried chicken dish which is famous in this area. If you like chicken, you should not miss this special menu while you are traveling this city. There are so many Dak-galbi places nearby Nami Island too. However, I recommend Healing Dak-galbi if you don't have enough time to travel for foods.
